I acquired this guitar from the original owner who told me he bought it new in 1973 or 74. The softshell case’s latches {economy type} wouldn’t stay closed over the years so he junked it and got another one for it. The guitar itself is in excellent condition, I don’t believe he played it too much over the years if at all, since the frets show no wear. These were made by Matsumoku in Japan and are good, quality guitars. For the price, and considering they fall into the vintage category now {amazing isn’t it?}, there is no better buy out there. The Chinese and Indonesian junk that is made today and sells for a similar price are not even in the same league with these 1970s Japanese made instruments. This guitar is all original except for the strings and case. Someone did put a Stewart McDonald shim in the neck pocket to adjust the action a bit. There is some room left on the truss rod, but not allot. It does turn freely though. I played this guitar through my JTM-45 and it sounded very unique, nothing at all like my 335. Has more of a single coil tone to it, hard to describe other than to say it is stronger in the trebles than any other humbucker I have ever played. Not bad at all, just different. And if you are primarily a Strat or Tele player like I am, you’re really going to like it. Classic vibes from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s are easy to get with this guitar. I have it strung up with GHS Boomers 10-46. They were on sale for cheap and they are decent strings, so I bought a case of them back when Sam Ash went tits up earlier this year.
